Valve Engineering Dossier
1. The Mechanics of Actuation
The aerosol valve is a precision mechanism designed to control the emission of product. It consists of a mounting cup, a housing, a spring, a stem, and a dip tube. When the stem is depressed (or tilted), the orifice within the housing aligns with the stem channel, allowing the pressurized product to flow upward.
We engineer our springs from stainless steel to ensure consistent actuation force (typically 1.5kg to 2.5kg) throughout the shelf life of the product, preventing "lazy" return.
2. Orifice Geometry & Flow Rates
The flow rate is determined by the specific combination of the Stem Orifice, the Body Orifice, and the Vapor Tap. A vapor tap is a small hole in the valve body that allows gas to mix with the liquid before it leaves the can, creating a finer mist and reducing flammability.
For high-viscosity products like adhesives, we utilize large orifices (up to 0.030") to prevent blockage. For perfumes, micro-orifices create a dry mist effect.
3. Mounting Cup Metallurgy
The mounting cup seals the valve to the can. We offer both Tinplate (with or without PET lamination) and Aluminum cups. The choice depends on the galvanic compatibility with the can body to prevent corrosion (e.g., Aluminum cups must be used with Aluminum Monobloc cans).
4. Bag-on-Valve (BoV) Technology
BoV represents the future of sustainable dispensing. By placing the product inside a collapsible bag, the propellant (Compressed Air or Nitrogen) never touches the formula. This allows for:
- ✓ Dispensing of pure product without chilling effect.
- ✓ Extends shelf life by preventing oxidation.
- ✓ Works at any angle (inverted spraying).
5. Quality Control: Micro-Leak Detection
Every valve batch undergoes statistical sampling for leak detection. We test crimp dimensions and gasket integrity to ensure leakage rates remain below 1.5 grams per year, complying with global FEA and aerosol safety standards.
